Hoy hemos entrevistado a Marie Vanmarcke, en Instagram y Facebook se llama Marie Rachel Castel. Marie es una de las azafatas protocolarias del Tour de Francia 2015.1.- ¿Cómo decidiste convertirte en modelo?:
Marie: Ser una azafata protocolaria no es ser una modelo. Comencé en el Tour hace tres años con ASO, y esencialmente sirvo a personas en las zonas VIP. Después, he trabajado para BIC (el año pasado). Y este año, quería trabajar como una azafata protocolaria porque creo que es el trabajo más completo para una azafata: Estás en la salida a la mañana, luego haces el recorrido y por la tarde, depende: puedes estar en el coche VIP a la llegada, estar sirviendo a clientes o estás dando el maillot de lunares. Somos cuatro azafatas y cambiamos todos los días.
1.- How did you decide to become a model?
To be a hostess protocolarie is not to be a model. I started Le Tour three years ago with ASO, I essentially served people in the VIP areas. Then, I worked for BIC (last year). And this year, I wanted to work as a hostess protocolaire because I think it is the most complete job for a hostess: you are in the Departure Village in the morning, then you do the step and in the afternoon, it depends: you can be in the Car VIP at the arrival, serving clients or you are in the protocole to give the polkadot jersey. We are four hostess and we switch every day.
2.- ¿Qué es lo que más te gusta y lo que menos de ser azafata?
Marie: La mejor parte es que puedes hacer y ver todo en el Tour de Francia: La ciudad de salida, el coche VIP a la llegada y luego el protocolo: La experiencia más completa que nunca tuve. Lo peor, es difícil de contestar porque no hay recuerdos malos, todo es bueno aquí, la gente, el ambiente... es como un sueño durante tres semanas.
2.- What do you like most and least about being a hostess?:
The best part is that you can do and see everything in the Tour de France: the departure village, the Car VIP at the arrival and then the protocole: the most complete experience I ever did. The worst, it is difficult to answer because there’s no bad memories, everything is good here, the people, the atmosphere… it is like a dream during three weeks.
3.- ¿Antes de ser azafata seguías el ciclismo?:
Marie: Me gustaba el ciclismo antes de trabajar en el Tour porque mi tío es ciclista. Vengo desde el norte de Francia y el hermano de mi abuela fue el primer ciclista norteño que terminó el Tour de Francia, fue en 1939, justo antes de la segunda guerra mundial y en ese momento, terminar el Tour de Francia era muy difícil.
3.- Did you like cycling before working as a Tour hostess?:
I liked cyclism before working on Le Tour because my uncless are cyclist. I come from the North of France and the brother of my grandmother was the fist northern cyclist who finish le Tour de France, it was in 1939, just before the second world war and at this time, to finish le Tour de France was very hard.
4.- ¿Tienes algún ciclista favorito?:
Marie: Me gusta Peter Sagan, Alberto Contador, los franceses Thibaut Pinot y
Jean-Christophe Péraud y por supuesto, Daniel Teklchaimanot, el primer
ciclista africano que viste el maillot de lunares.4.- Do you have a favorite cyclist?:
I like Peter Sagan, Alberto Contador, the frenchies Thibaut Pinot and Jean-Christophe Péraud and of course, Daniel Teklchaimanot, the first african cycle who wear the polkadot jersey.
5.- ¿Como es un día normal de una azafata en el Tour de Francia?
Marie: Como he dicho, un día normal comienza dirigiéndose a la zona de salida, después hacemos el recorrido, que es un camino diferente al que cogen los ciclistas y llegamos a la línea de meta en las zonas VIP, llamadas Car Club. Y los días donde tenemos que dar el maillot de lunares, vamos al camerino a prepararnos y a continuación, le damos el maillot de lunares. Nos quedamos con el ciclista y le pedimos que firme algunos maillots de lunares. Hacemos algunas fotos y luego vamos a nuestro siguiente hotel.
5.- How is a typical day of a hostess in the Tour de France?:
As I said, a normal day begins by going the Village Departure, then we do the parcours hors course, it is a different road from the way that cycles takes and we arrive to the finish lines in the VIP areas called Car Club. And for the days where we have to give the polkadot jersey, we go a campingear to prepare ourselves and then, we give the polkador jersey. We stay with the cyclist and we ask him to sing some polkadot jerseys. We do some potos and then we go to our next hotel.
6.- ¿Qué es lo que más te sorprendió en el Tour de Francia?:
Marie: Lo más sorprendente es la gente en la carretera. Cuando tomamos la carretera justo antes de los ciclistas y las caravanas. Cuando les cantamos, ellos sonríen y eso nos da felicidad.
6.- What surprised you most in the Tour de France?:
The most surprisin is the people on the road. When we take the road just before the cyclists and the caravanes. When we sing them, they are smiling and it gives you happiness.
